Tuesday’s thoughts!

Today we had our Veteran’s Day celebration outside!  This is one small step of returning to normal!

In math we continued to take the topic 3 math test.  We continue to work hard on this!  We hope to wrap it up tomorrow!

In reading we worked on chronological order by reading a passage about the mail.  It was very interesting to learn about how the mail gets sorted and shipped out.  I even learned a few new things reading this passage!

We are working on pluralizing nouns along with writing what a new student would need to know.  How fitting especially since we got a new student last week.  This has been fun to plan together!  Today we practiced writing nouns from singular to plural following the different rules.

Homework:

Math: Trifold due tomorrow

Reading: 25 minutes

Social Studies:  10 counties scrap map due 11/15

Tuesday’s Thoughts

Happy Tuesday!

Today in math, we started multiplying the “Traditional” method AKA the way you and I were taught!  Now that we fully understand place value and groups of, we can now practice using less lines!  Tonight I kept it simple, but I also added some IXL links for additional practice!  The IXL links ARE OPTIONAL!!

Happy November!

Happy November 1st!  This is going to be a very fast month!

Today, we worked hard!  In math we continue to practice Partial Products with 4 digit numbers and we continue to practice solving word problems.  We have to remember that we need to find out what the question is asking us, what clue words and numbers are used to help us figure it out.  Once we highlight those, we are set to go!

In reading, we are working on the Nonfiction strategy Problem and Solution.  We will find out that not every problem has a solution, in life and in reading! 😀

In Spelling we are practicing /i/ and /o/ sounds.

Homework:

Reading:  25 minutes

Math:  worksheet; if you have time, you can go onto IXL and do D19

A brand new week!

Happy Monday!

Today we started off great!  Everyone was focused and excited to do their work…ok maybe excited is a bit much, but with the weather, they did great!

In math, we started focusing on Compare and Contrast in nonfiction passages.  We cut out an anchor chart to use and we started reading a passage that has multiple information on dolphins and porpoises.  Tomorrow we will continue this by filling in the Venn Diagram used to show comparisons and similarities.

In math, we started multiplying 1 digit by 2 digits using Distributive Properties OR the break apart method.  We practiced writing the expanded form of the larger numbers and multiply by the single digit.  We used a rectangle for our area model and everyone did GREAT!  Tomorrow we will continue practicing and switching over to parenthesis.

Homework:

Math:  3-4 worksheet (handwritten)

Reading: NO PASSAGE (see email) just read for 25 minutes

Spelling: copy words 2x and study for test Friday
